The iPhone 5 has been out for a few weeks now, and if your anything like me, you have to get new accessories when you get a new device. As the iPhone 5 is bigger than it's predecessor you have no choice but to buy a new case, or screen protector etc.

Today I'm going to look at the The Ultimate iPhone 5 Accessory Pack available from http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/ for £19.95.

The pack contains the following 6 accessories:-
  • iPhone 5 Desk Stand
  • iPhone 5 Car Holder
  • FlexiShield Skin for Apple iPhone 5
  • Mini Portable Desk Stand
  • 1 Amp USB Car Charger Adaptor
  • 5 x MFX Screen Protectors

The desk stand is my least favourite part of this accessory pack, it's fairly basic, it does what it's meant todo. But I like my iPhone accessories to not only do their job but to look good as well.

The car holder is good accessory to have, you can attach it to either the windscreen or dashboard (make sure you clean the surface so that it sticks properly) and it works in portrait or landscape orientation. Its perfect if you use your phone as a sat nav.
The width of the holder can be adjusted so that it will fit your phone with or without the included FlexiShield case (or a number of other cases that aren't too bulky). The holder features rubber grips to insure your precious new iPhone won't fall out as you're diving along or get scratched as you take it in and out.....

When I buy a new phone, I have to look after it. I can't not have it in a case, mainly because I know I'm going to drop it within the first week. The same goes for any other device, my iPad, camera, laptop etc.

I preordered my iPhone when it was available and I decided to order the Apple iPhone bumper so I had something to protect the phone straight away. At the time I didn't see myself keeping the case however it was much better than I expected. As with all bumper cases it only protects the edge and corners of the phone, but it did a good job.

Unfortunately last week the case split, so it was time for a new one. The Apple iPhone Bumper is actually really expensive for what it is (around £25) so I wasn't going to go for that again.

I did a lot of research about what cases were now available, aluminium bumpers seem popular, however they provide little impact protection and the surface can scratch easily. I'm also not keen on cases than cover the entire back of the iPhone, I want to be able to see the logo. Hard plastic cases also seem to be popular, these cover everything apart from the screen, but also provide little impact protection.....

ImageTime to look at a brand new iPhone app that has certainly made a name for itself already and it was only released last Wednesday (15th February 2012).

I'm going to be looking at Clear for iPhone. Clear is a really simple app for creating lists in a revolutionary way, there are no buttons in the app all actions are performed by gestures.

Clear is designed to be as simple as possible, you can use it to create shopping lists, things you need for your next holiday, blogs you need to write or anything you want to remember. It uses heatmap based themes, so the darkest item in the list is the most important.

The gesture based usability make it a breeze to create new lists on items. In list view simply pull down to create a new list, and then do the same to create a new item within a list. This can also be done by using pinch open to create a list or item between 2 others. Pinch closed to go back to all your lists. Tap to edit an item then you can swipe left to delete the text or swipe right to replace the text (undo).

Swipe right to complete an item in the list or swipe left to delete it. It's as simple as that, the best way to learn the gestures is just to explore the app and try different ones.

I'm back with another iPhone / iPad app review though. Today i am going to be reviewing Consume for the iPhone.

Consume allows you to keep track of your usage for your mobile phone, broadband, reward cards and much more.

Currently i have separate apps on my iPhone to view my usage for my O2 bill, my Vodafone bill and for my Nectar card. Consume allows me to monitor thing on these accounts within one app.

Consume works in various countries however i am only going to focus on whats available in the UK.....

ImageYou may or may not have realised by now, that I am in fact, a man. Any man will know that we struggle to remember birthdays and anniversaries etc. Not only do we forget when they are we forget how old that person is going to be. I struggle to remember how old my actual family are let alone my friends.

Sure I could add birthdays to my calendar, but they doesn't tell me how old they are going to be, nor does it quickly let me see what birthdays I have coming up.

Luckily Yearly is a beautiful app solution to this problem.

Yearly displays upcoming birthdays for the contacts listed in your iPhone address book. It displays the date of their birthday, the age they will be, their star sign, any notes you might want to add and a picture. It also gives you access to their contact details, phone number, email etc, so you can quickly and easily message them happy birthday!

Hey all, its time for a quick iPhone App review. Today i'm going to be looking at the Keep Calm and Carry On app. I don't really purchase apps from the entertainment category, but i saw this and just had to download it.

Most people will have heard of the phrase "Keep Calm and Carry on" and probably seen the posters too. It was used during World War 2 to help boost morale.

Who knew that years later it would be turned into an iPhone app?

The Keep Calm and Carry On is really easy to use. All you need todo is come up with your own morale boosting phrase, for example "Keep Calm and Tweet". Then add an image, edit the text, change the background colour and text style and thats it you have your own keep calm poster. Just post it to Twitter, Instagram or Facebook etc.....

ImageOne of my favourite iPhone apps, Localscope has just been updated to version 2.0, and wow it does not disappoint. I reviewed this app 5 months ago when i first came across it, and i was impressed back then, it must be true, good things can get better!

Just time for a quick catch up. Localscope uses your iPhone GPS to find various places of interest close to your current location. For example a restaurant, a coffee shop, a hotel or a cash machine. However Localscope has a unique feature it allows you to view location information from multiple sources. You can easily swipe between Google, Bing, FourSquare, Wikimapia and even Twitter. This allows you to quickly see if the information is accurate and if not check another source for better information.

Localscope quirky became my favourite app for finding the places i wanted and many other people changed to it as well. However it had long been overdue an update.

The app still uses the same solid foundations, but it adds some more services that make it even more unique.....

ImageHey all, its time to review another iPhone App.

Today I'm going to be looking at Instacast for the iPhone.

Podcasts have been around for a while now, you can pretty much think of any subject and I'm sure they will be a podcast about it. From a catch up of the Chris Moyles show, to game reviews, news, or just two people being funny like the Yogscast.

When podcasts first came about the only way to listen to them was on your computer, after that you could download them and sync them to your iPod and listen to them wherever you are. With the introduction of iPhones and similar devices it became possible to download podcasts directly to your phone, removing the need to sync it all the time.

However personally i think the podcast integration into the iPhone is awful, its difficult to find what podcast you are after, and it doesn't automatically download new episodes.

So let me introduce you to Instacast an iPhone app that solves all of these problems and more.....

I've had my iPhone 4S for about a month now, which of course means new accessories!

Today I'm going to be looking at the Third Rail System Slim Case and Smart Battery for iPhone 4S/4.

Image

Ever since the iPhone was launched the battery life has always been an issue. With the recent release of the iPhone 4S it doesn't seem like battery life is getting any better, in fact it's worse than the 4S.

When your out an about charging your phone is very difficult, so a number of manufacturers have come up with a solution, iPhone cases that are a battery that can charge your iPhone and make it last longer. However these cases are often bulky due to the space required to incorporate battery technology. ....

ImageTime for a really quick iPhone App review!

Today I'm going to look at Parkbud. You can probably guess what it is from the name right?... It's a parking buddy!

I can't be the only one that has parked in a town or shopping centre that I'm not familiar with, shopped for a few hours and then forgot where i parked my car. The best example of this for me is Bluewater shopping centre, it has thousands of spaces spread across multiple spaces, i used to lose my car all the time!

Parkbud is a really simple app that will always get you back to your car, wherever you are. It can also record parking ticket time limits. So if you have parked somewhere that only allows 2 hours, Parkbud will notify you to return to your car.....
